A gold ring that once belonged to Elvis Presley has been sold at auction for $32,500 (£20,822).The 18-c gold and diamond cameo ring has 'Elvis' engraved on the inside and was one of the top-selling items in the sale, which was held in Memphis, Tennessee by Heritage Auction Galleries on Saturday (August 14th) woods fireplace.Presley gave the ring to close friend Janelle McComb, whose grandson offered the item for sale in the auction, the Commercial Appeal reports.Winning bidder Michael Werner said he considered the ring to be "the top item in the whole auction … It's just the look of it actually - shiny and golden".Around 100 people attended the auction in total, with many other bids coming in via the web and phone.Collector John Heath told UPI: "Everyone wants a piece of Elvis."One of the few unsold items in the auction was Presley's white Knabe grand piano with gold trim, which was expected to fetch $1 million.Doug Norwine, director of music and entertainment auctions at Heritage Auction Galleries, told Bloomberg he blamed the lack of bids on the still-fragile economy.
