A collection of Peranakan jewellery, including a number of gold items, is to be displayed at venues in Malacca, the third smallest Malaysian state, it has been reported.According to the Star, hotel owner Chris Lee Bak Eng has a passion for the antique items and over the last 35 years has built up a substantial collection personal injury attorney. While he is unsure how much it is worth, he told the news provider that he had no plans to sell it as he considers himself to be a collector rather than a trader or dealer.Among his collection are some antique gold anklets that would have been worn by Peranakan women. The collection will be displayed at the Suria KLCC and later at the Gurney Plaza, George Town. There will also be some Malay and Chinese items for visitors to view.On starting his collection, Mr Lee Bak Eng said: "Mum gave me some pieces, including two belts, kerongsang, bracelets, earrings and a ring. That was how I started."According to the Peranakan Museum website, Peranakan communities herald from the Straits Settlements of Singapore, Malacca and Penang.
